School-Year Internship Opportunity
The Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation AmeriCorps Member serves to support the EAGLE Scholars program, which promotes college readiness and creating independent learners, and the After School Program, which promotes exposure to colleges, careers, and cultural diversity.
Three members will be recruited for our College Success and Community Programming, including our EAGLE Scholars college readiness program and our After-School Programming.
EAGLE Scholars is made up of an ethnically and culturally diverse group of seventh through college students, all of whom are focused on a four-year college degree as their goal. The EAGLE Scholars program is designed to help our Scholars develop the skills they already have and acquire the ones they need in order to help them successfully navigate the educational system. We engage students from middle school through college in experiential learning and expose them to new thoughts and ideas in order for them to internalize the notion that they are college material and can begin working toward their goals and dreams.
VMYDF’s After-School Programs bring together a multicultural community of middle and high school students who are exploring their strengths, passions, and possibilities for the future. Through club themes like Cultural Baking, STEM, Art, and Movement, students are introduced to hands-on experiences that build life skills, expand cultural awareness, and spark curiosity about careers and college paths. We engage students in various STEM projects, exposure to different cultures, and help chart their journey to college, ensuring that each student leaves each session with tools that prepare them for the world beyond the classroom.
